Happy 3rd of July

Chaysee ate loved the ice cream and when she knew she had everyones attention she put it everywhere but in her mouth!

We had a great 4th celebration. BBQ, Smores, Swimming, fireworks and a lot of fun with family and friends. Today we give thanks to those who have fought and are still fighting for our country. I read a cool saying once..."Land of the FREE because of the BRAVE" what a powerful statement. Today as we celebrate our independence, let us remember those who fought to make this a free land. When I asked the kids what they thought we were celebrating they said

Zek: our fathers and our flag

Mya: I don't know but its fun

I guess we need to do a lesson on independence day :)

Happy Birthday Zek

It's hard to believe Zek turned 7. He is usually a really good kid. He now loves to play basketball (thanks to Travis and Treveor). He also likes 4 square, the color green, Tacos, Legos, Knex, games of any sort and bugging his little sisters. The festivities started on Friday with a birthday dinner (Taco stuffed pasta shells, one of his many favorites), presents (a bike from Travis and Angie on Thursday, so I guess we started on Thursday), lego ship, Johnny Cash CD, Scooby-doo movie, a Tie, kettle corn (we had to go get a bag from Pete and Lindsay at the Farmers Market, more kettle corn, transformers, spiderman and more. Zek was very spoiled. And the fun doesn't stop there Saturday he had a bbq at Grandma and Grandpa Iverson and on Tuesday Grandma is taking him shopping. Zek is always helping and enjoys learning new things. He just finished reading the Christmas Box and is really excelling at reading. He likes to play strategy games, does not like to pull weeds (which he has to do when he gets in trouble), loves playing with friends and loves swimming. No cake this year for Zek, he decded to have scookies instead. For those of you who don't know what that is here is a definition: A giant warm cookie straight from the oven topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. Happy Birthday Zek. We love you!
In Other news this past week we had three extra kids while there mom went to girls camp. It was very busy and loud but we had a great time. Monday we went to the Honey factory and got Honey sticks, watermelon was the favorite, Tuesday we went to the park for lunch then out to my moms to swim, Wednesday was windy so we stayed inside, Thursday was the big primary activity (pioneer themed) the kids had a blast making biscuits and going on hay rides, Friday was the last day and Scott was here to help. They played games and jumped on the trampoline. I can now say I have know idea how mine or Scotts parents raised more than three kids, I felt like a maid all week, but I am glad the kids had a good time.
Also on Friday I had Keeley (lexis daughter) for a few hours and her and Chaysee had a blast, they both loved helping with the dishes and they really enjoyed each other I can't wait until they are older and can really talk to each other. They are only 7 months apart.

To Catch Up!

Chaysee is now 14 months and continues to grow. She is already wearing 18-24 month clothes. She can say "gran ka" meaning grandpa and zee for zek. She still is not walking but she will stand up, make sure no one is looking and then sit down. Trevor graduated from high school, it was freezing but we sat/stood through it all, Zek had a spring music concert. It was so cute he sang 3 songs and was very animated as only a 6 year old can be. Zek also was awarded 40 paws for good behavior and recieved a subway certificate. Congrats Zek! Today was his last day of first grade and he is excited for summer. Yesterday he had a field trip to the water park, where they were served dominos pizza and he floated around the lazy river 11 times-he is very sunburned but he had a great time. Chaysee also learned she likes to feed herself, she immediately had to have a bath. **For all you that shop the Farmers Market, this story is for you. So I took the kids down a couple of saturdays ago and we purchased some fruit and some lettuce. Excited about our finds I made a green salad, trying to set a good example by eating my vegtables. As soon as I took a bite, Scott looked at my face and asked what was wrong. With all eyes on me, I proceeded to chew and sollow the most disgusting lettuce I have ever eaten. I washed the lettuce and it tasted like there was weed killer sprayed all over it :( needless to say we will not purchase lettuce from the Farmers Market again. Chaysee hates the carseat but to keep her happy all I have to do is start taking pictures and she quits crying so here is a couple of snap shots. Last Saturday we got to go and pick strawberries at my parents house, the kids got to swim (for the first time this year) and we made freezer jam, we will be going out again this weekend to make more :) Then on tuesday we went and celebrated Great Grandmas birthday at her house. We had lunch and got to visit, it was a lot of fun. Happy Birthday Grandma. Ok last story, today my mom stopped by and we went with her to Wal-mart, we went in my car so we wouldn't have to move car seats and when we got home Zek wanted to help grandma move her groceries, he didn't hear me tell him not to open the back because there was eggs that might fall-well they did fall and almost all broke, at least it was only eggs!

quick post

Things have been really busy around here lately. For the past week someone has been sick, not fun, and school for me just keeps getting busier. I am looking forward to the summer break. Chaysee tried tacos for the first time and really enjoyed herself. Zek didn't tell us that he was his class spelling bee winner, CONGRATULATIONS! we had to find out from his weekly newsletter that comes home. He is now reading the "Christmas Box" because everything else we have is too easy. Zek is growing and learning so much. All the kids went to the dentist this week, Zek had a cavity and had to get a silver tooth which he thought was so cool. He was extremely brave, he didn't even move the whole time the dentist was working. Mya thought the dentist was easy and she is ready to go again, only so she can get a prize. Mya always has something funny to say and she is always singing. She now goes to primary all on her own and stays the whole time, I didn't no if this day would ever come but we are so glad it did. She asks me everyday if she is getting bigger, I say yes and she looks at me and asks, "then why can't I reach things that are up high?" She then proceeds to tell me she is not growing. If only I could understand how the mind of a 3 1/2 year old works. Chaysee has started to pull herself up to everything, but is not walking or even wanting to try. She has been sick the longest and is still fighting it. The warm weather tricked us 2 weeks ago and we had one great week of warm weather and then last week it rained and was windy. The kids are hoping it will get warm and stay warm. Last Saturday we went to Grandmas and planted our garden, since we don't really have a spot here. The kids love spending time out there. Also thanks to Mom and Dad for coming to get the kids on Saturday while I was sick, it was a big help. Hopefully we will all get better now and be able to get through these last weeks of school.
PS the picture at the top is a common everyday one. If I am busy Chaysee will pound on the back door until I take her outside with the other kids, she sure knows how to put on a pouty face.

Random

Look we can do pig tails !

Karleigh, Kesiah, Mya and Zek at Chaysees b-day

So I keep getting the guilt trip about not updating my blog (TONYA! :) love you) so here is a random post with random pictures. Not a lot going on here lately. School keeps me busy. Zek started guitar lessons, he is learning "Folsom Prison Blues" he loves the lessons, but not the practicing part so much. The funniest thing from last week is Chaysee was playing with my teeth and Mya looked over and said, "Mom Chaysee is going to be a dentist." Kids are so smart these days. Zek and Mya are both excited to have Travis home. They cry when we leave grandmas and they are looking forward to summer and swimsuits.

Chaysee is One!

Our Home

wagon/new clothes

I can't believe she is one. How time flies (although at the time it really doesn't go by al that fast). Wednesday was her birthday and we had cupcakes (which she did not like at all), gave her a wagon (if I would have known how entertaining this would be I would have bought one when Zek was little) and some clothes. I think it is so hard to believe she is one because she doesn't walk or even try to walk. I am sure she'll figure it out eventually. Happy 1st Birthday Chaysee! We love you!

More Easter Fun!

The kids absolutely loved Easter. Today they woke up to baskets of candy, and outfit and a movie for the family. The Easter bunny definately knew what the kids needed and wanted. Although they did not understand why they didn't get a prepackaged basket from the local Wal-mart, they were still happy. Zek had a sleep over with grandma and forgot to take his basket with him so the his basket was filled at the house and brought to him later. Kids are so funny that way (the reason why the bunny did not know his location). Mya put on her outfit and told me that "yellow was definately her color." We had lunch at great grandmas with the best egg hunt of all. Since we were expecting more kids to be at the hunt, everyone filled a lot of eggs and then there were 3 kids who made a haul on the candy. Zek, Mya and Kesiah had a blast searching for eggs with their buckets overflowing.

Highlights from the weekend:
Chaysee eating candy with the paper on
Chaysee grabbing every piece of candy she could get to, it didn't matter whose basket it was in.
Watching the "Last Song" take tissues, what a great movie!
Ok I saved the best for last
Zek swallowing yes swallowing Scotts wedding ring.
Friday morning I was getting Mya ready for the day and Scott was getting ready. As I am fixing Myas hair I hear Zek coughing in his room. I proceed to ask him what the problem is and I get no response. I figure he is ok. Then a few minutes later I hear Scott ask him where his ring is. Scott then comes running out and says that Zek swallowed his ring. Zek and I immediately drive to the ER, the whole time he is gagging on this ring and trying to get it out. When we get there a paramedic who was standing around immediately takes Zek to the back and tries to get the ring out of his throat, he is unsuccessful. By the time we get checked in and Zek gets an x-ray, the ring is in his stomach and we are sent home. (I think of Aaron and Kristen and how I just read of Paige swollowing batteries, how could I let this happen). Before we left the Doctor told us that what goes in will come out and that we should watch for it. Well I had a girl weekend planned in Spokane with my mom and sisters, so I left it up to Zek and Scott. So far no ring. All you can do is laugh because seriously we are just thankful he is ok.
