Family Vacation

Last week we were able to meet Scotts parents in Montana at Glacier National Park. We had a lot of fun adventures that we decided to repeat in 5 years...Got to have more time to prepare for hiking LOL!! We arrived Sunday afternoon to hot salsbury steaks (which Scott loves, and I have failed at making) set up camp, visited and went to bed. The next morning we headed to the park and drove the "road to the sun" I got extremely car sick, didn't see much. Thankfully Scotts dad took a lot of pictures, which I am hoping he wants to share. After stopping for lunch we headed out on St. Marys trailhead to see the waterfall (1.5 mile hike) it was a pretty low key hike, the kids were able to do and it really was beautiful. We got back to camp and had a late dinner. The next day after lunch we headed out again, not knowing the exact plan (had I known I would have never gone, but am now thankful I did). We started out on this hike it was pretty steep, I thought "what was grandpa thinking?" we kept going. Zek had a blister, took off his shoe and walked 50% of the hike with only one shoe on. Mind you the whole time we were hiking there was MAJOR complaining, crying, arguing...finally after Mya and I were alone and way behind, Grandpa came to rescue and carried Mya on his shoulders the rest of the way. To be honest I didn't think I was going to make it. I just kept thinking one foot in front of the other. When we got to the top is was amazing. Such gratification and the beautiful sight from above. Thats when Grandpa told us it was 3.6 miles up 1800 feet!!! I am glad he didn't tell me that when we started, because I would have said no. On a happier note the way down was very plesant, no complaining. That night the kids got to swim and have wonderful tin foil dinners. The next day Grandma and I were feeling that out of shape feeling so we opted to keep the kids at camp and play games while grandpa and and Scott went on a 10 miler up 4500 feet. We were glad to stay at camp. We had a really great time and the kids already want to go back, I would recommend Glacier to everyone. And yes we were there the same time as the escaped convicts, eventhough we didn't know it and only a week after an entire family was killed by bears (Scott informed me the bears were killed, which didn't make me feel much better LOL)
